After Three Week Wait, Fundraiser Participants Bracing for Frigid Ocean Plunge on Saturday at Maine Polar Dip in Portland

March 2 Freezin’ for a Reason event to raise money for Camp Sunshine, a one-of-a-kind retreat in Casco, Maine for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families

PORTLAND, Maine (February 25, 2013) – The sixth annual Maine Polar Dip, postponed by a historic blizzard earlier this month, is set to take place on Saturday at East End Beach in Portland. Participants will plunge into frigid Casco Bay to raise money to send more families to Camp Sunshine.

The March 2 event will test the mettle of participants who must dip into freezing ocean waters at East End beach at the base of Portland’s Eastern Promenade. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. with the plunge set for noon. The charity fundraising event had originally been scheduled for Feb. 9 but was postponed due to the storm that left record snowfall on Portland.
