Martin’s Point Health Care is offering a class on asthma self management at its Health Education Center in Portland this Wednesday, February 23.

The class will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and is open to the public. Participants will learn about the asthma diseases process, asthma triggers, how to manage symptoms and when to call their doctors for assistance.

It will be taught by Senior Health Educator Leigh Kirchner. To register, call the Martin’s Point Health Education Center at 828-2497 or 1-800-260-6681. The fee for the course is $25.

“Emphasis is placed on quality of life, because when asthma is properly managed, you should be able to enjoy your daily activities free of daily asthma symptoms,” said Kirchner.

Established in 1981, Martin’s Point is a not-for-profit health care provider with heath care centers in Portland, Brunswick and Windham, Maine, and in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and serves patients in the areas of family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, radiology, cardiology, and mammography, as well as other fields.
