Attorney Daniel Murphy Joins Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson

Attorney Daniel J. Murphy has joined the law firm of Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson and will practice in the firm's Bankruptcy and Insolvency Practice Group in Portland.

The attorneys in the group represent clients in reorganizations and liquidations under Chapter 11 and Chapter 7, large commercial insolvencies, and related litigation in the state, federal and bankruptcy courts primarily in Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Bernstein, Shur lawyers have played instrumental roles in many of Maine's largest Chapter 11 bankruptcies.

In addition, the group's experience and expertise includes litigation involving officers and directors' liability, lender liability matters, out-of-court restructurings (including workouts, assignments for the benefit of creditors, and receiverships), and commercial and business tort litigation.

Murphy formerly served as a law clerk to the Hon. Leigh I. Saufley, Chief Justice of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. He is admitted to practice law in Maine and Massachusetts.

A Portland resident, Murphy received his law degree from the University of Maine School of Law and undergraduate degree in 1993 from St. Michael's College in Vermont. A Lewiston, Maine native, Murphy is a 1989 graduate of St. Dominic Regional High School.
