Attorney J. Andrew Cashman has joined Preti Flaherty (www.preti.com) as an associate based in the New England law firm’s Augusta offices.

Cashman practices in the firm’s Energy and Litigation Groups. Prior to joining Preti Flaherty, Cashman worked for the firm as a Summer Associate in 2008. In 2007, he served as a Bernstein Fellow for the Maine District Court.
Before attending the University of Maine School of Law, Cashman worked for Gov. John Baldacci as the Director of Boards and Commissions within the Office of the Governor. In this role, he was the primary advisor to Gov. Baldacci on appointments to state boards and commissions and worked closely with members of the Maine House and Senate on gubernatorial appointments requiring legislative confirmation.

Cashman is a 2009 graduate of the University of Maine School of Law and a 2003 graduate of Bowdoin College. During law school, Cashman was an editor of the Ocean and Coastal Law Journal. While at Bowdoin, he founded the Maine College Democrats, served as president of the Bowdoin College Democrats and was named a Sara and James Bowdoin Scholar.

Cashman is a resident of Brunswick and serves on the board of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland.
