Attorney Karen Douglass Joins Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson

Attorney Karen L. Douglass has joined the Commercial Department at the statewide law firm of Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson, and will practice in the areas of general business, corporate transactions, and health law.

Prior to joining BSSN, Douglass served as both a volunteer at Pine Tree Legal Assistance in Portland and as an EXCEL Student Teacher while attending the University of Maine School of Law. She is a member of the American Bar Association and the Maine State Bar Association.

A resident of Portland, Douglass is a 1997 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Connecticut College in New London, Conn. She received her J.D. and graduated Cum Laude from the University of Maine School of Law, where she was the recipient of the Wernick Prize for Legal Writing and the Independent Writing Project awards for her piece: "Patient Confidentiality and Access to Medical Records." Douglass currently attends the Muskie School of Public Service, pursuing a Master's degree in health policy and management. Originally from Brunswick, she is a 1993 graduate of Brunswick High School.
