Attorney Peter J. Van Hemel has joined the Commercial Department at the statewide law firm of Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson. He will concentrate his practice in commercial real estate law.

Prior to joining Bernstein, Shur, Van Hemel served as a law clerk at the Boston University Office of the General Counsel in Boston. He also has served as a legal assistant at Zelle & Larson, LLP, in Waltham Mass., and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in Boston.

Van Hemel, currently residing in Newburyport, Mass., plans to relocate to Kennebunk in December. He is a 1995 graduate of the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va., and received his law degree from the Boston University School of Law.
