Attorneys Lipp, Wuesthoff and Osborn Join Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson

Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson has announced the addition of three new attorneys to the Commercial and Litigation departments of the statewide law firm. Joining the firm are attorneys Frederick L. Lipp, Joel A. Wuesthoff and John G. Osborn.

A resident of Portland, Lipp joined the Commercial, Real Estate and Business Department at the firm, where he will practice in the areas of domestic and international business. Based in BSSN's Portland office, Lipp will focus on international trade and counseling growing technology companies. Recently named chair of the International Practice Section of the Maine State Bar Association, Lipp served as Senior Trade Advisor at the Maine International Trade Center and advised Gov. King during trade missions to Asia and Canada. He formerly served as a partner at a Portland law firm.

Lipp serves on the Steering Committee of the American Bar Association's Inter- American Law Committee. He received his law degree from the University of Maine School of Law in 1991. Lipp graduated magna cum laude from Bowdoin College in 1988.

A resident of Portland, Wuesthoff also joined the firm's Commercial, Real Estate and Business Department, where he will practice in the areas of commercial real estate, corporate, estate planning and international law. He is a member of the Maine Estate Planning Council and the International Law Section of the Maine State Bar Association. He also is a director on the board of the World Affairs Council. Formerly with a Portland law firm, Wuesthoff also served as an international officer for The Foreside Company, a Maine-based importing company, and as an international policy analyst on the staff of Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell. Wuesthoff also worked for the Carter Center of Emory University in Guyana, South America.

Wuesthoff, who grew up in the Buxton area, received his law degree from the Vermont Law School in 1995 and a master's in international administration in 1993 from the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vt. In 1990, Wuesthoff graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, with a degree in East Asian Studies.

A resident of Portland, Osborn joined the firm's Litigation Department, where he will serve in the Energy Practice Group. Formerly a staff attorney at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, he is a member of the American Bar Association's Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law Section. Osborn also is a member of the Maine State Bar Association, the Maine Trial Lawyer's Association and the American Trial Lawyer's Association.

Osborn received his law degree and a master's in public policy in 1997 from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va. He received a master's in literature from George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., in 1992 and a B.A. from the University of Vermont in 1990. Osborn is a member of the Portland Landbank Commission and serves as a site supervisor and building committee member for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland.
