Media Advisory**** Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Friday **** and Scout Family Day Saturday

WHAT: Business Leaders, TD Banknorth officials and the Pine Tree Council, Boy Scouts of America, will dedicate the new 21,000 square-foot Scouting center with a ribbon cutting Friday, June 10, less than 11 months after breaking ground. Also, a Scout Family Day and tours will be held on Saturday from 9 to 3 p.m. as well to celebrate the opening of the new facility.

WHEN: Friday, June 10, 10 a.m.

WHERE: The Alton E. “Chuck” Cianchette Scout Service Center on Johnson Road, across from the Portland International Jetport runway. Directions: From the Maine Turnpike, take Exit 46 (formerly exit 7A) turn right and take another right at Johnson Road, and the building is on the right. From Outer Congress: the building is on the right across from the second airport entrance.

More Info: In addition to TD Banknorth, Cianbro Corporation and the architecture firm of SMRT of Portland are involved in the capital campaign. As general contractor for new Scout Service Center, Cianbro is donating all project management services to the project. The Pine Tree Council serves more than 18,000 youths through its Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturing, Learning for Life and Exploring programs in Central and Southern Maine. The Pine Tree Council serves 10 counties of Maine, including Androscoggin, Cumberland, Franklin, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Oxford, Sagadahoc, Somerset and York. The Council is also made up of five geographic regions called districts, which are named Abnaki, Casco Bay, Downeast, Kennebec Valley and York, and a Learning for Life Division that serves all 10 Counties of the Council.
