BSSN Lawyer To Contribute To New Publication For Attorneys in Complex Cases
Handbook Offers Advice About Scientific Evidence and Experts
(PORTLAND, Maine) ÷ Todd S. Holbrook, Esq., an attorney with the statewide firm of Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson, has written one of eight chapters in the "Scientific Evidence and Experts Handbook," a new, up-to-date reference guide for lawyers in complex litigation matters. Holbrook, of Falmouth, Maine, is a member of the Litigation Department at Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson, one of Northern New England's leading law firms. He concentrates his practice in the areas of intellectual property, products liability and general commercial litigation. Holbrook's chapter provides timely analysis of the recent Supreme Court case, Kumho Tire Company v. Carmichael and its likely implications, and also covers pretrial preparation in scientific evidence cases, including strategies for filing motions, preparing exhibits and evaluating opposing scientific expert testimony. Scientific evidence and experts are playing an increasingly crucial role in determining the outcome of complex litigation matters. The handbook is designed to help lawyers quickly determine what scientific evidence is admissible and what's not in federal and state courtrooms across the country. Holbrook and the other expert contributors provide timely, in-depth analysis, proven techniques, and "how-to" tips for using scientific evidence and experts to a client's best advantage.
A 1987 graduate of Bates College, Holbrook received a master's degree in physics from Wesleyan University in 1980. Holbrook received his J.D. from the University of Michigan, where he graduated magna cum laude in 1992. Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson is one of Northern New England's largest law firms with more than 60 attorneys in offices in Portland and Augusta. The firm provides legal services in all major subject areas, including corporate and commercial law, litigation and trials, municipal and governmental affairs and tax and estate planning. The firm also has a substantial practice in intellectual property, employment law, commerce and technology, real estate, health care law, banking, legislative affairs, public utilities and other regulated industries.
