EDWARD H. NUGENT PROMOTED TO ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT AT BANKNORTH

Edward H. Nugent has been named assistant vice president in the Technology Department at Banknorth Group in Lewiston. A programmer/analyst, he will continue to be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining enterprise database applications.

Nugent joined Banknorth in 1999. An experienced computer programmer, he also served as a machinists mate in the U.S. Navy, where he received certification from the Naval Nuclear Power School in 1983. A Monmouth resident, Nugent received an associate's degree in computer information systems in 1999 from the University of Maine in Augusta. He is a 1993 graduate of Central Maine Technical College in Auburn and a 1981 graduate of Fryeburg Academy.

JENNIFER L. PLOURDE PROMOTED TO ASSISTANT VP AT BANCNORTH INVESTMENT

Jennifer L. Plourde has been named assistant vice president at Bancnorth Investment Planning Group, NA, the investment subsidiary of Banknorth Group in Portland. She will continue to manage the sales efforts of more than 100 licensed agents in Maine and New Hampshire.

Plourde joined Banknorth in 1992 and has 10 years in banking. She previously has served as an officer, a sales trainer, a customer service representative and a teller. Plourde is a resident of Portland.

Victoria A. Plummer has been named a vice president in the Residential Mortgage Customer Support Center at Banknorth Group in Portland. She will continue to be responsible for the management of residential mortgage processing.

Plummer joined Banknorth in 1999 and has 16 years of related experience. She previously served as assistant vice president. Prior to joining Banknorth, Plummer managed a title company in Maine. Russell M. Rodrigue has been named vice president in the Information Technology Department at Banknorth Group in Lewiston. A technology planning manager, he will be responsible for developing standards, network infrastructure and systems design, as well as assessing new technologies.

Rodrigue joined Banknorth in 1998. He previously has served as assistant vice president, design engineer and network manager. He is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE). Lea K. Sargent has been named assistant vice president in the Direct Banking Department at Banknorth Group in Lewiston. A group leader, she will continue to manage customer sales and service operations for Banknorth's call center.

Sargent joined Banknorth in 1987 and has 15 years in banking. She previously has served as customer service representative and a head teller. A resident of Auburn, Sargent received an associate's degree in business/travel tourism in 1982 from Fisher College in Boston. She is a 1980 graduate of Mt. Ararat High School in Topsham.

JOHN ST. ONGE PROMOTED TO VICE PRESIDENT AT BANKNORTH

John T. St. Onge has been named vice president in the Commercial Appraisal Department at Banknorth Group in Portland. He will continue to conduct collateral valuations on behalf of Banknorth clients in western Massachusetts and upstate New York, as well as manage two senior staff appraisers in New Hampshire and Vermont.

St. Onge joined Banknorth in 2000 and has 12 years in banking. He previously served as an assistant vice president. In addition, he has served as a vice president and senior appraiser for a major bank and as a review appraiser for a management corporation, both in Massachusetts. St. Onge is an associate member of the Appraisal Institute and is a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

RONALD STEPHENS NAMED SENIOR VP AT BANKNORTH INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- Ronald P. Stephens has been named senior vice president at Banknorth Investment Management Group in New Hampshire, the money management subsidiary of Banknorth Group. He will serve as regional manager, overseeing investment management, sales, public relations and relationship management statewide.

He began his career in 1974 at Merrill Lynch after serving in the National Guard. Stephens is also a Nasd Arbitrator.

Ronald J. York has been named a senior vice president in the Cash Management Department at Banknorth Group. York joined Banknorth in 1995 and has seven years in banking. He previously served as a vice president.
