Banknorth Group Staff Promotions, M - Z, Mid-2000

Banknorth Group, Inc., headquartered in Portland, Maine, is one of the country's 50 largest commercial banks with $18.5 billion in assets. JOSEPH MACDONALD NAMED VICE PRESIDENT AT BANKNORTH GROUP

Joseph M. MacDonald has been named vice president in the Consumer Credit Collections Department at Banknorth Group in Portland. He will continue to manage the advanced delinquency collection staff, which is responsible for reducing delinquency and losses from consumer lending.

MacDonald joined Banknorth in 1998, and formerly served as an assistant vice president. In his 11-year banking career, he also has served as a senior recovery manager and an asset manager at two Massachusetts banks.

A resident of Yarmouth, MacDonald is a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is a 1989 graduate of Arizona State University in Tempe, and received a Master's degree in 1995 from Lesley College in Cambridge, Mass.

BILL MARTEL NAMED VICE PRESIDENT IN CONSUMER LENDING AT BANKNORTH GROUP

Bill H. Martel has been promoted to vice president in the Consumer Lending Department at Banknorth Group, Inc., in Portland. He is responsible for a full range of consumer lending activities in his role as consumer operations manager.

Martel joined Banknorth Group in 1997 and has previously served as an assistant vice president and as the branch manager of the Peoples Heritage Bank in Rockland.

A resident of Saco, Martel is a 1991 graduate of Gordon College in Wenham, Mass., and received a master's degree in 1993 from the Gordon-Conwell Seminary in Hamilton, Mass. He is a member of the Gordon-Conwell President's Association, and serves on the Gordon College Alumni Board. A Rockland native, Martel is a 1987 graduate of Rockland District High School. He is currently enrolled in the MBA program at Thomas College in Waterville.

KIMBERLY MCKENNEY PROMOTED TO VICE PRESIDENT AT BANKNORTH GROUP

Kimberly A. McKenney has been promoted to vice president in the Consumer Credit Collections Department at Banknorth Group, Inc., in Portland. She will continue to work as a manager in the area of early delinquency and collection systems.

McKenney joined Banknorth Group in 1992 and has previously served in various supervisory positions within collections. She is a member of the Northern New England American Institute of Banking, Southern Maine Region.

A resident of Portland, McKenney is a 1990 graduate of Johnson and Wales University in Providence, R.I. She is originally from Winslow, Maine, where she graduated from Winslow High School in 1986.

JANET MILLEY NAMED VICE PRESIDENT AT THE STRATEVEST GROUP

Janet E. Milley has been promoted to vice president at The Stratevest Group in Bangor. She will continue to be responsible for personal trust administration and new business development in the Bangor office at 77 Exchange.

Milley joined Stratevest Group in 1998 and formerly served as an assistant vice president. The Stratevest Group, a subsidiary of
Banknorth Group, Inc., provides an extensive range of money management, trust, and investment services to individuals, families and businesses throughout Maine. It is responsible for $2 billion in client investments statewide.

A resident of Bangor, Milley serves as a director on the boards of the Good Samaritan Agency and Pine Tree Legal Assistance. She is a member of the Maine Estate Planning Council, the Maine State Bar Association, and the Penobscot County Bar Association.

DEBRA MOONEY NAMED ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT AT BANKNORTH GROUP

Debra S. Mooney has been named assistant vice president in the Mortgage Operations Department at Banknorth Group in Lewiston, where she will continue to oversee mortgage escrow operations.

Mooney joined Banknorth in 1999 and has 16 years in banking. She has previously served as a manager in mortgage operations at Banknorth and as a loan servicing manager at a bank in Massachusetts.

A resident of Lewiston, Mooney is a member of the Massachusetts Mortgage Bankers Association. She is a Casco native and graduated in 1977 from Lake Region High School. Mooney also attended the University of Southern Maine in Portland.

THOMAS PRINCE NAMED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT AT BANKNORTH GROUP

Thomas M. Prince has been promoted to senior vice president of information technology risk management at Banknorth Group in Lewiston. He will oversee strategic IT risk management planning, information security, and business contingency planning in the Technology Department.

Prince joined Banknorth Group in 1970 and has previously held several senior management positions in bank operations and data processing with a New Hampshire subsidiary of the bank holding company. He has served since 1994 as vice president of technology for Banknorth Group.

A resident of York, Prince serves as a member of the Advisory Board of the Maine Association of Community Banks. He received a bachelor's degree from Gordon College, and is a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University.

JOHN PRYBYLO NAMED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT AT BANKNORTH GROUP

John A. Prybylo Jr. has been named senior vice president in the information technology area of the Operations Department at Banknorth Group in Lewiston. He will continue to supervise telecommunications, networking, PC support, customer service, data management, and other operational aspects in the department.

Prybylo has 25 years of banking experience, most with an affiliate bank of Banknorth Group in Springfield, Massachusetts. He has previously served as a vice president in technology infrastructure planning, MIS director, technology officer, management trainee, head teller and teller.

A resident of Harpswell, Prybylo received an MBA in 1982 from Western New England College in Springfield, Mass. Originally from Longmeadow, Mass., he is a 1973 graduate of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and a 1969 graduate of Longmeadow High School.

TED SCONTRAS NAMED EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AT BANKNORTH

Theodore N. Scontras has been promoted to executive vice president in the Government Banking Department at Banknorth Group in Portland. He will continue to oversee government banking at Banknorth Group subsidiaries throughout New England and upstate New York.

Scontras joined Banknorth Group in 1991 and has 11 years in banking. He formerly served as a senior vice president at Banknorth Group and as the head of the bank holding company's Asset Management Department.

Scontras serves as a director on the boards of the Southern Maine Agency on Aging, Jobs for Maine's Graduates and The Aids Project. He also serves as co-chair of the Strike out Cancer in Kids Program for the Maine Children's Cancer Program.

Scontras is a 1971 graduate of the University of Maine. A resident and native of Saco, he is a 1967 graduate of Thornton Academy.

KATHERINE SPEAR PROMOTED TO ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT AT BANKNORTH

Katherine A. Spear has been promoted to assistant vice president in the Deposit Operations Department at Banknorth Group, Inc., in Lewiston. She will continue to serve as a manager in a 17-member unit that processes check returns and monitors kiting/risk management for the bank holding company.

Spear joined Banknorth Group in 1996 and has 15 years in banking. She has previously served in various supervisory positions within deposit accounting and operations with Peoples Heritage Bank and its parent, Banknorth Group.
Spear, her husband John and their two children, Brittany and Kelsey, reside in Gray. She volunteers in the Gray/New Gloucester schools and at other community functions. Originally from Portland, Spear is a 1983 graduate of Deering High School.

JOSEPH SULLIVAN NAMED ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT AT BANKNORTH GROUP

Joseph M. Sullivan Jr. has been named assistant vice president in the Mortgage Collections Department at Banknorth Group in Lewiston, where he will continue to supervise mortgage collections functions.

Sullivan joined Banknorth in 1995, and has 23 years in banking. He has previously served as a collections manager and in other positions in collections at Banknorth Group.

A resident of Standish, Sullivan is a member of the Standish Lions Club. He is a 1975 graduate of St. Joseph's College in Standish.

RONALD YORK NAMED VICE PRESIDENT AT BANKNORTH GROUP

Ronald J. York has been named vice president in the Cash Management Department at Banknorth Group in Portland. As regional manager, he will oversee nine cash management sales and support staffers in Maine and New Hampshire, and will also act as lead sales officer on major new sales prospects.

York joined Banknorth in 1995, and formerly served as an assistant vice president. He is a Certified Cash Manager (CCM) from the Association for Financial Professionals, and an Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) from the National Automated Clearinghouse Association.

A resident of Freeport, York serves on the Board of Directors for Greater Portland Big Brothers Big Sisters, and is active in the United Way. He is a 1987 graduate of Thomas College in Waterville. Originally from Brunswick, York is a 1982 graduate of Brunswick High School.
