Bernstein, Shur Attorneys to Provide Insight into Bankruptcy from the Creditor’s Perspective at Upcoming Seminar

Attorneys Michael Fagone, Wendy Paradis and Jennifer Rood are featured speakers at a daylong seminar hosted by Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson and Lorman Education Services on November 5.

The seminar, entitled “Bankruptcy: A Creditor’s Perspective in Maine,” will cover creative exemption planning, creditors’ liquidation strategies, bankruptcy litigation updates, effective reorganization strategies and Chapter 13 issues.

Jennifer Rood, who is based in the Manchester, N.H. office of Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson, concentrates her practice in the areas of bankruptcy and business litigation, frequently representing debtors but also assisting secured creditors, committees and other parties. She is board certified in business bankruptcy by the American Board of Bankruptcy Certification. Rood is a 1985 graduate of the Vermont Law School and in 1981 earned a bachelor’s degree in American Studies, cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Maryland.


Michael Fagone is a member of the firm’s Bankruptcy & Insolvency Practice Group. His practice focuses primarily on the representation of debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, and other parties in formal insolvency proceedings and in out-of-court workouts. Fagone also represents businesses and individuals in a wide range of commercial transactions, as well as in business litigation in state and federal courts. He received a J.D. summa cum laude from the University of Maine School of Law in 1997, and a bachelor’s degree from Amherst College in 1993. Fagone is a resident of Saco.

Wendy J. Paradis is an attorney in the Commercial Department and Creditor’s Rights Practice Group at the firm. Her practice focuses primarily on commercial litigation, foreclosures, workouts, real estate transactions and related bankruptcy matters. She also has experience representing both lenders and borrowers in commercial litigation and transactional matters. Paradis is a 1990 graduate of the University of Maine School of Law, and received her bachelor’s degree in 1983 from Mt. Holyoke College. She is a resident of Falmouth.
