Bernstein Shur Adds Five New Attorneys as Part of Regional Law Firm's Continued Expansion

Chris Aslin, Caleb DuBois, Asha Echeverria, Katherine Joyce and Kathryn McGintee added

PORTLAND, Maine – Five new attorneys - Chris Aslin, Caleb DuBois, Asha Echeverria, Katherine Joyce and Kathryn McGintee - have joined Bernstein Shur as part of an ongoing expansion at one of northern New England’s largest multi-service law firms.

The firm now has more than 90 attorneys providing practical and innovative legal counsel to a diverse group of public and private clients from offices in Portland and Augusta, Maine, and Manchester, New Hampshire.

Chris Aslin is a member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group and will focus his practice on general litigation matters. Before joining Bernstein Shur, he served in an externship for the Hon. Jeffrey R. Howard of the U.S. Court of Appeals, First Circuit.
Aslin also served as an intern for the Vermont Supreme Court and as an energy efficiency policy intern for the Natural Resources Council of Maine.

A resident of Portland, Aslin is a summa cum laude graduate of the Vermont School of Law and also holds a Master’s in Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and a Master’s in Psychology from Vanderbilt University. He is a 1997 graduate of Dartmouth College.

Caleb DuBois, a member of Business Law Practice Group, will focus his practice in the areas of business transactions and corporate governance and formation issues, including debt and equity financings.
Prior to law school, DuBois served as an enforcement staff intern in the Securities Division of the Maine State Department of Professional Finance and Regulation.

A resident of Hollis, DuBois is a graduate of Northeastern University School of Law and a 2002 magna cum laude graduate of Bowdoin College.

Asha Echeverria is a member of Bernstein Shur's Litigation and Energy and Environmental Practice Groups. Her practice will focus on general litigation and energy and environmental issues.
Also an engineer, Echeverria has a wealth of experience in construction and government, including designing and coordinating various construction and demolition projects as well as transportation and highway safety projects.

A Portland resident, Echeverria is a graduate of George Washington University Law School, where she was a Thurgood Marshall scholar. She also is a 2000 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned an engineering degree. She is a member of American Society of Civil Engineers.

Katherine Joyce, a member of the Energy Practice Group and the Environmental and Natural Resources Practice Group, will focus her practice on environmental regulation, compliance and permitting, with an emphasis on solid waste, water and air pollution issues.
Joyce has worked on local, state, and federal environmental and land use permitting issues and has represented parties before various boards and councils. She also participated in the development of state storm water regulations.

A resident of Scarborough, Joyce is a 2003 graduate of the University of Maine School of Law and also holds a Master’s in Environmental Law from the Vermont School of Law, where she graduated cum laude in 2000. She also is 1998 cum laude graduate of Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont.

Kathryn McGintee, a member of the Litigation Practice Group, will focus her practice on general litigation matters.
McGintee previously served as an intern for the Volunteer Lawyers Project and as a student attorney for the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic, handling divorce, protection from abuse and criminal matters.

A Yarmouth resident, McGintee is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Maine School of Law, where she served as the Case Note & Comment editor of the Maine Law Review. She received her undergraduate degree in 2003 from Davidson College in Charlotte, N.C.
