Bernstein Shur's Karen Lovell Named a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel

Designation confirms Lovell as one of New England's top trust and estate attorneys

Bernstein Shur Attorney Karen Lovell has been named a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, a national organization of more than 2,500 trust and estate attorneys and professors from throughout the United States and Canada.

The College, which comprises the country’s top attorneys in estate planning, probate, estate and trust administration, protective intervention, and other related legal matters, appointed Lovell as a Fellow following a vote by its Board of Regents last month.
Lovell, who joined Bernstein Shur in 1995 after 16 years in private practice in Saco, Maine, focuses her practice on estate planning, trust and estate administration, and probate litigation.

“This is a prestigious trust and estates designation,” said Charlie Miller, Bernstein Shur’s Managing Shareholder. “Only the brightest and most experienced in the field of estate planning are invited to become Fellows. It’s an honor for both Karen Lovell and our firm.”

A resident of Saco, Lovell is also recognized by Best Lawyers in America for her work in trusts and estates, tax law, and real estate law. She is AV-rated by Martindale Hubbell.

Lovell is a 1970 graduate of the University of Michigan and received her JD at the University of Maine School of Law in 1979. She is a member of Board of Trustees of Thornton Academy, a Corporator of Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution and of Southern Maine Medical Center, and a member of the Maine Estate Planning Council.

Bernstein Shur is one of northern New England’s largest multi-service law firms, with more than 80 attorneys in Portland and Augusta, Maine and Manchester, New Hampshire. Established in 1915, the firm provides practical legal counsel to a diverse group of public and private clients throughout the region and around the world. Bernstein Shur’s commercial, litigation, and municipal practices are complemented by the services of the firm’s affiliates, which include Bernstein Shur Government Solutions LLC, a government consulting firm; Stratex LLC, an environmental and engineering consultancy; and Monument Title Company.
