Bernstein Shur's Katherine Knox Appointed to Portland Board of Appeals

Attorney Katherine R. Knox of the Municipal and Governmental Services Practice Group of Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson has been appointed by the Portland City Council to the Portland Board of Appeals. She takes office this week.

Knox, a resident of Portland, focuses her practice at Bernstein Shur on a range of municipal law issues and governmental relations work, including lobbying.

Knox currently serves as chair of ewomen!, an organization that trains Maine Democratic women to serve as legislative leaders. She has served in a number of top elected positions with the Maine chapter of the National Association of Social Workers and was named the Maine Social Worker of the Year in 1997. Knox is a member of the Maine State Bar Association, the American Constitution Society, and the American Bar Association.

Knox graduated cum laude from the University of Maine School of Law in 2004 and completed a Master’s in Social Work in 1993 at the University of Maine in Orono. She received an undergraduate degree in 1990 from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
