Blood Pressure Screenings and Workshop on Managing High Blood Pressure Offered at Martin’s Point
Screenings begin Oct. 4 in Portland; workshop on Oct. 14
Martin’s Point Health Care is offering free blood pressure screenings in Portland and a workshop at each of its four locations this fall for people who have high blood pressure.
The free blood pressure screenings will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 4, Nov. 8 and Dec. 13 at the Martin’s Point Health Education Center, 331 Veranda Street, in Portland. No registration is required and persons are encouraged to stop by to receive a screening and educational materials.
A workshop to help people with high blood pressure has also been scheduled at each of the four Martin’s Point locations throughout the fall. “Managing Your High Blood Pressure” will cover self-management strategies for diet, stress management and exercise. In addition, participants will receive their own digital monitor and learn how to monitor their blood pressure at home.
Taught by Senior Health Educator Leigh Kirchner, MPH, CHES, the workshop will be offered in two-parts in Portland Oct. 14 and 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m; Nov. 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Windham; Nov. 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. in Brunswick, and Nov. 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. in Portsmouth.
