Breakaway Adventures Introduces Lightweight E-Bikes for Travelers on Swiss Lakes Vacations in Europe this Summer

Electronic bikes latest enhancement for Breakaway Adventures, specializing in cycling and walking tours in Europe

Canton of JURA, Switzerland (February 22, 2010) – Breakaway Adventures is introducing e-bikes to make it easier for travelers to enjoy the unspoiled beauty of the Swiss Jura region of Europe this summer.
Breakaway Adventures booking cycling tours in Swiss Lakes region of Europe this summer Breakaway Adventures (www.breakaway-adventures.com), the leading independent cycling tour specialist in Europe and around the globe, is offering lightweight battery propelled electronic bikes, called e-bikes, as an option for the tour company’s Swiss Lakes vacations throughout the summer – ensuring an effortless adventure regardless of fitness levels or experience.

Unlike their traditional counterparts, the lightweight e-bikes use battery power to climb hilly inclines or face strong winds. As the battery kicks in, power is increased by up to 80 percent, allowing vacationers to potentially cover twice the distance with half the effort.

As a result, clients have even more time to stop off and discover their own idyllic corner of the Swiss canton of Neuchatel, from vineyards to chateaux and picturesque towns to nature reserves.

“With e-bikes, our clients can enjoy this beautiful Swiss Lakes region on the French border at an even more leisurely pace,” said Carol Keskitalo, Managing Director of U.S.-based Breakaway Adventures. “And at the end of the day, guests simply charge the bike battery in their hotel room alongside their cell phone and other essential travel gadgets.”

Keskitalo said the availability of e-bikes means a greater number of people can enjoy cycling through the Swiss countryside. Breakaway Adventures specializes in cycling and walking tours in Europe.
Beauty of Swiss Jura region of Europe enhanced on e-bikes as part of Breakaway Adventures tours this summer “The lakeside routes are perfect for gentle cycling and, as such, are ideal for customers new to this kind of vacation,” she said. “Breakaway’s e-bikes ensure guests can keep up with the rest of the family. We hope that the introduction of this new option may tempt rusty cyclists to experience the two-wheel trail, which allows for a true up-close vacation experience.”

While exploring the Swiss Jura region, cyclists will pass through the scenic countryside with distant alpine views on traffic-free trails, enjoy picturesque villages with medieval squares, visit castles and Roman remains, and stop for cool swims in a valley of sparkling Swiss lakes.

Prices for the “Swiss Lakes Cycling” hotel-to-hotel independent cycling holiday start from $2,672 per person plus a $300 rental fee for the Bike Tec Swiss Flyer e-bike. Due to limited e-bike availability, early booking is recommended. Users must be 16 or older to rent an e-bike, however, parties can mix and match traditional and e-bikes as per their personal preference.

The package price includes eight nights in an eclectic mix of 3- and 4-star accommodations, daily breakfast, four evening meals, the transportation of bags between hotels, panniers, two bike batteries (including a spare), a charger, Breakaway route notes, a regional information booklet and a local map kit. As with all Breakaway cycling tours, helmets are strongly recommended but are not compulsory or provided. Tours start every two days from May 1 through Sept. 24.

Founded in 1997, Breakaway Adventures specializes in off-the-beaten-path gastronomic walking and cycling holidays, with more than 200 trips to 30 countries. For more detailed itineraries or to book a tour online, visit www.breakaway-adventures.com or call 800-567-6286.
