SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine - Craig S. Russell has been named chief marketing officer at South Portland-based IntelliCare, Inc., a leading provider of medical contact center services and technology. He is responsible for providing strategic direction with an emphasis on business development, branding and new product innovations at IntelliCare.

Russell has more than 20 years experience in the employer, managed care and healthcare decision support industry. He previously served as executive vice president at SHPS, Inc., where he led strategy while managing marketing and business development for the $120 million health services and benefit administration company in Louisville, Kentucky. Prior to that, Russell served as president and CEO of Seattle-based CareWise, Inc., spearheading growth from 3 million to more than 9 million members before its successful acquisition by SHPS.

Russell, too, co-founded and served as general manager of Health Decisions International, a health care decision support company later acquired by WedMD. He also was the founding principal of the Center for Corporate Health, now OPTUM, and has served as the manager of health services and organizational development at Versatec, a Xerox company.

A resident of Higgins Beach in Scarborough, Russell received a master's in management and organizational development from USF, and an undergraduate degree in health sciences from the University of Maine.
