Developers Encourage Participation in October 4 Community Forum on Wayland Town Center Site Plan and Amenities

Developers of the Wayland Town Center are encouraging residents to participate in the upcoming Community Forum next week (Oct. 4) to discuss the project’s Concept Plan.

The meeting will be held Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall in Wayland, Massachusetts. The developer, Twenty Wayland, LLC, submitted the Concept Plan on August 1. By November 1, the Planning Board review is expected to be completed and Twenty Wayland is scheduled to issue an application for a Master Special Permit.

“Input from the residents is important,” said Project Manager Frank Dougherty of Twenty Wayland, LLC. “We join the Planning Board in encouraging everyone to become part of this process by providing their views and ideas.”

The development, to be located on Route 20 where the former Polaroid/ Raytheon complex presently stands, will be a combination of New England-style shoppes, offices, residential and a municipal building with walkways and open spaces.

Twenty Wayland, LLC has pledged $3 million to the Town of Wayland, which can be used by the town in any way it chooses. Some uses for the funds discussed by the town include a library, ice skating rink, canoe launch or funding of other town amenities and programs.

In addition to the $3 million the developer is providing $250,000 to extend the town’s bike path from the business district to the new development.

Town residents will decide where the two-acre town green will be located through the public hearing process on the Concept Plan in October. In addition, the developer, in response to the requests of town residents, will permanently dedicate 10 acres of conservation area to the public.
