Dr. John O. Vogt, a pediatrician, has been named Assistant Medical Director of patient care at Martin's Point Health Care, Maine's largest primary care practice group.

In this role, Dr. Vogt will be managing the organization's clinical staff as well as the patient care process at the facility's four clinics.

"Dr. Vogt brings with him a wealth of knowledge. He is a great addition to our team," said Dr. David Howes, chief medical officer and president of Martin's Point Health Care.

Dr. Vogt has specialized his medical practice in pediatrics for more than 23 years. He formerly served as a physician with The Medical Group of Texas, a 100- physician group practice in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. He also was responsible for maintaining, augmenting and programming content on the center's corporate intranet, and oversaw its Regional Call Center as the Physician in Charge. In addition, Dr. Vogt served as chair of the Professional Services Specialty Review Board in Texas.

Before joining The Medical Group of Texas, he served as a pediatrician with the 150-physician Permanente Medical Association of Texas from 1979 to 1998. During that span, he also served as Associate Medical Director for clinical operations and as Associate Medical Director for resource management and healthcare information systems. Dr. Vogt also has served since 1979 as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Health Science Center. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Vogt is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. A graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H., he received his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, Mich., and completed his pediatric residency at the Children's Medical Center in Dallas.

A resident of Falmouth, Dr. Vogt is the father of four daughters and is married to Jane Makela, a labor and employment attorney.
