Dr. Mark Henschke Certified in Medical Management by National Board

(NEWINGTON, New Hampshire) - Dr. Mark R. Henschke, a new staff physician at Martin's Point Health Care in Newington, has been designated a Certified Physician Executive by a national certifying body for physicians specializing in medical management.

Dr. Henschke is deserving of the award on the basis of his "educational achievements, demonstrated stature as a physician and experience in the field of medical management," according to the Certifying Commission in Medical Management (CCMM). He joins an elite group of 495 Certified Physician Executives nationwide.

The CPE designation, used in signatory, indicates that a physician has achieved superior levels of professional excellence and management education, while also demonstrating effective knowledge and leadership skills. He earned the certificate in medical management from the American College of Physician Executives and Carnegie Mellon University and has been accepted into the Master's in Medical Management program at Carnegie Mellon.

Dr. Henschke, a Rye, N.H., resident with a long and distinguished career as a physician and a pharmacist, joined a team of three other physicians at the Newington health care facility as part of a move by Martin's Point to offer more services in the Seacoast region. He previously served as a physician with Frisbie Health Services in Rochester, N.H., and as the medical director at Appledore Medical Group in Portsmouth, N.H.

Early next year, Dr. Henschke and Drs. Cowan Stark, Mark Ballentyne and Steven Lutz will move their practices to a new, expanded Martin's Point Health Care clinical facility currently under construction at 161 Corporate Drive in the Pease International Tradeport in Portsmouth, N.H. The Newington facility will then close.

A graduate of California State University in Northridge, Calif., Dr. Henschke received a degree in pharmacy in 1983 from the University of Southern California's School of Pharmacy in Los Angeles. He received his medical degree in 1988 from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, and completed a portion of his residency at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
