Patricia E. Murray, D.O., has joined Martin's Point Health Care in Portland as a primary care physician specializing in internal medicine. She also practices and has a special interest in Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy (OMT).

"I decided to practice medicine because I felt it was the best field to be able to combine my interest in wellness and also my training as a teacher," Dr. Murray said. "My goal in practicing medicine is to help people learn how to live a healthy lifestyle and when faced with illness, to provide guidance and recommendations regarding treatment so they can make informed decisions about their own health."

A resident of Portland, Dr. Murray is board certified in internal medicine and belongs to the American College of Physicians, the American Osteopathic Association, and the American Academy of Osteopathy. She received her undergraduate degree in history, with a double minor in political science and education, from New York University, and earned her medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine. Dr. Murray completed her internal medicine internship and residency at the University of Connecticut in Hartford.

Dr. Murray served as a high school social studies teacher and coach in Norwalk, Conn. for 10 years prior to medical school. She has been a bodybuilder, personal trainer and led outdoor adventure trips in canoeing and hiking.
