LOS ANGELES (October 18, 2010) – George I. Zuluaga has joined NUA Advisors, LLC, an investment advisory firm specializing in non-traditional investing within retirement accounts, to establish a West Coast division at the national firm.

An investment advisor, Zuluaga will be based in the Long Beach, Calif., area, where he will focus on wealth management and retirement planning in traditional as well as non-traditional investments. Before joining NUA (www.nuaadvisors.com), Zuluaga worked in IT and finance at Mars, Inc. in Los Angeles.
“NUA is expanding as part of our effort to encourage people to re-think the way they are investing their qualified retirement accounts and consider non-traditional investments,” said Laurie Bachelder, Chief Compliance Officer and a Principal of NUA. “George’s passion and expertise in this area will be a real asset and enable us to reach even more clients in the western United States who want greater control over their retirement nest eggs in these uncertain times.”

With the appointment of Zuluaga, NUA will establish an office in Lakewood, Calif., further solidifying its reach as a national firm. NUA also has offices in Portland, Maine, Lexington, Mass. and Columbus, Ohio.

Zuluaga said he pursued the financial services field as part of a “personal mission is to close the gap in financial literacy for the everyday working person and their families. We’re here to show people there are viable alternatives.”

Zuluaga is a 2005 graduate of the Graziadio School of Business & Management at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif. He earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from California State University in Los Angeles in 1988. Zuluaga holds a California Life & Health agent license.

A resident of Bellflower, Calif., Zuluaga is a board member of Academic UpRise, a non-profit educational institution dedicated to improving the chances of success for youth in Long Beach and surrounding communities. He also is an active participant in the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Hispanic MBAs.
