LOS ANGELES (April 21, 2011) – HD Camera Rentals, a leading L.A.-based rental house, has expanded its West Jefferson Boulevard facility and enhanced services to meet a growing demand for digital cinema, 3D technology and custom-built rigs, the company announced Thursday.
The expansion by HD Camera Rentals – quadrupling in size to more than 20,000 square feet – is focused on comfort and convenience for its growing list of film industry clients. The new facility is equipped with an 8,000-square-foot prep area with eight spacious bays, a high-precision lens and sensor diagnostics room for on-site testing, a fully-stocked kitchen and conference room for client use, dual loading docks and additional parking, and a private and secure 24/7 4,000-square-foot prep facility for major productions.

Mansouri said a key element of the expansion that sets the company apart from many of its competitors is the new on-site lens and sensor diagnostic room. Using high-precision equipment, ACs, stereographers and other clients can now collimate and calibrate lenses and check sensors in-house rather than outsourcing the task as in the past.

Other highlights of the expansion include:

• An 8,000-square-foot prep area featuring eight individual bays to give clients room to spread out while setting up and testing gear. Each bay is outfitted with a one-of-a-kind dolly system, designed by Bobby Mansouri, that speeds up lens focus testing by moving the camera rather than the focus chart.
• Additional work space for HD Camera Rentals’ techs to experiment, create custom-built rigs, and fix and enhance equipment to fit the needs of clients.
• Fully-stocked kitchen with seating designated for client use only, plus the availability of a conference room and additional comfortable seating in a revamped reception area.
• Easier access in and out of the facility with dual loading docks and additional parking spaces.

A private, secure 4,000-square-foot prep facility with 24/7 access, complete with a separate kitchen and bathrooms, to serve as a base for major studio projects.
The private prep facility will be completed soon, and all other areas of the expansion are fully operational, Mansouri said. Also, plans call for the installation of rubberized flooring, comprised of recycled tires, in the main prep area to protect gear and enhance comfort for clients who stand for hours prepping for a shoot. HD Camera Rentals is planning an open house later this year.
