HD Camera Rentals is Now Radiant Images – Same Company, Better Name

Name change to Radiant Images reflects wider scope of work, digital cinema innovation at leading L.A.-based rental house

LOS ANGELES (May 19, 2011) – HD Camera Rentals, a leading L.A.-based rental house and digital cinema innovator, has changed its name to Radiant Images, the company announced Wednesday.

The switch to Radiant Images (www.radiantimages.com) was made to better reflect the company’s wide scope of work, beyond renting cameras and equipment, including pre- and post-production services, 2D and 3D cinema solutions, and designing and building custom rigs.

Radiant Images is changing in name only, said co-founder Michael Mansouri, and will continue to provide the same services to its clients, including an extensive inventory of leading-edge cameras, gear and accessories, as well as hands-on technical support.

“We’re the same company but now we have a better name,” Mansouri said. “Digital and 3D technology is changing every day and we’re keeping up, even staying ahead, so we decided we needed our name to capture that. We’re much more than a rental house.”

Radiant Images has expanded its facility, including a storage area for a growing inventory of digital cinema cameras and gear. The company also recently announced a major expansion of its facility at 4125 West Jefferson Boulevard in Los Angeles. By quadrupling in size to more than 20,000 square feet and adding a high-precision lens and sensor diagnostic room, Radiant Images now provides more space, comfort and convenience for its growing list of film industry clients.

Radiant Images has always been the parent name of the business, founded by Mansouri and Gianna Wolfe in 2005 and first operated out of their garage in Silver Lake. They started doing business as HD Camera Rentals to tap into a specific customer base and set themselves apart from competitors. The return to Radiant Images marks an evolution back to the beginning as digital technology moves beyond the HD format, Mansouri said.

“Since we began six years ago, our reputation has grown as innovators and problem solvers,” he said. “We like to think that we provide a spark of creativity to the projects we are involved in by discovering new and better ways to utilize cameras and gear to get the job done right. This type of hands-on, creative approach benefits our clients and has been the main reason for our growth from a small shop to a large facility. It sets us apart from other rental houses because our primary purpose is not just to rent cameras but to find creative solutions.”

The essence of the company’s mission is captured in Radiant Images’ new logo, which incorporates a light bulb into a design that includes a tagline: “We know digital – inside and out.”

“Our custom rigs and camera configurations often stand out like a beacon that others follow,” Mansouri added. “That creativity is something that we encourage and embrace here.”

Radiant Images unveiled its new name and logo at the J.L. Fisher mixer last weekend in Burbank, and is preparing to showcase the latest cutting-edge cameras, rigs and gear at the upcoming Cine Gear Expo on June 2-5 in Hollywood.

The company has built a reputation as a go-to shop for digital cinema cameras and lenses, custom equipment, and expertise in the fast-moving world of digital technology. Recent work has included playing an important role in the filming of Academy Award-nominated 127 Hours by providing the SI-2K and other digital cameras, custom rigs and problem solving to acclaimed Director Danny Boyle’s project. In addition, the company recently provided cameras, gear and solutions for Fox TV’s highly anticipated new action-drama series, Exit Strategy, starring Ethan Hawke, and Universal Soldier 4 in 3D, now filming in Louisiana with Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren.

Established in 2005, Radiant Images provides leading-edge, high-end digital cinema technology and support to the film and entertainment industry worldwide. The company was founded upon a single-minded focus to offer top-of-the-line equipment, the latest technology and unmatched expertise to the entertainment industry as it navigated the new age of digital cinema. Radiant Images can outfit an entire shoot with cameras, lenses and rigs as well as provide a full range of accessories and tech support. For more information, visit online at www.radiantimages.com.
