In-Home Tutoring Service WyzAnt.com Partners with Chicago's Crane Tech Prep High School to "Give the Gift of Education" this Holiday Season

For each new student who registers on the Wyzant.com site - no purchase necessary - $10 will be donated to the Richard T. Crane Prep High School

CHICAGO – WyzAnt.com, a Chicago-based website where students find local tutors with expertise in more than 150 different subjects, announced today it will donate $10 for each student who registers on Wyzant.com to help Chicago’s Crane Tech Prep High School.

To register on WyzAnt.com, students simply search for and contact local tutors, but no purchase is necessary.

The new “Give the Gift of Education” program, which began Monday, is already increasing the website’s traffic and registrations. The program will also offer one free tutoring lesson to all new students who visit WyzAnt.com and contact a tutor between December 15 and January 15.

The Richard T. Crane Tech Prep High School is a Chicago public school located on Jackson Boulevard that with a new administration has recently moved in a “new direction,” initiating several new programs, events and directives. For example, the school is in its third year as an IDS – Instructional Development System (High School Transformation) School, a program funded through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Last spring, 45 Students were inducted into the Crane Chapter of The National Honor Society, the highest number in the school’s history. And earlier this year the school participated in the Science Olympiad for the first time.

“With the help of our new administration, Richard T. Crane Tech Prep High School is moving in a new direction as we continue to reach for excellence,” said Principal Richard C. Smith, Jr. “In 2008, the school initiated a number of programs to help offer students extracurricular activities and opportunities to achieve academic advancement.”

“Crane’s new administration along with their dedicated staff continue to make great strides in providing students with the resources they need to pursue their educational interests,” said Wyzant.com President and CEO Drew Geant.

For more information on the school visit them online at http://www.cps.k12.il.us/schools/hsdirectory/crane.shtml. WyzAnt expects to make the donation to the school in late January.

“We respect the hard work and dedication shown by the staff and students at Crane to expand the educational opportunities offered to students – so we’re honored to pledge our support to Crane this holiday season,” said WyzAnt Communications Director Daniel Breiner.

WyzAnt.com is a user-friendly website where parents can search by zip code for local in-home tutors to work with their children in a relaxed, one-on-one setting. A photo and description of each tutor is displayed, along with their educational background, experience and individual teaching style. Fees generally range from $30-50/hr with discounts available for students who choose to purchase a package of lessons. All tutors registered with WyzAnt are tested in their subject area and certified by WyzAnt prior to conducting lessons.

WyzAnt, Inc. is the brain child of Geant, a Scarborough, Maine native, and friend Mike Weishuhn, who met while students at Princeton. The duo started the company after graduating in 2005 and called it WyzAnt - a combination of their names - Weishuhn and Geant. Today WyzAnt has grown to encompass all 50 states with tens of thousands of tutors registered nationwide.
