Jim Rice of Red Sox Fame will be at the new Peoples Heritage Bank in Ellsworth Wednesday

WHAT: Opening of the new Ellsworth branch of Peoples Heritage Bank with a special guest, former Red Sox left fielder Jim Rice, who emerged as one of the American League's best sluggers in the late 1970s and early 1980s. On the Red Sox' all-time leader lists, he trails only Ted Williams and Carl Yastrzemski in HR, RBI, hits, and total bases.

WHEN: Wednesday, September 10, from 5 to 7 p.m.

MORE: The bank will also make a $1,000 charitable donation to the Open Door Recovery Center.

This is a new, full-service branch with a drive-up window and ATM. The branch has 10 employees and 5 teller windows and is open Monday through Thursday 9 to 4, Friday 9 to 5 and Saturday 9 to 12. The drive up window is open Monday through Thursday 8 to 4, Friday 8 to 6 and Saturday 8 to 12. The banking center manager is Lori Shields.
