Johnna L. Major has joined Martin's Point Health Care as the Director of Human Resources. She will manage human resource functions at Martin's Point, the state's largest not-for-profit primary care practice with more than 300 health care professionals and 54,000 patients.

Major previously served as the Director of Human Services at Gofish.com in Portland and as a human resources representative and coordinator at Cole-Haan in Yarmouth. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and the HR Association of Southern Maine.

A resident of Scarborough, Major is a 1984 graduate of Bates College in Lewiston. A native of Oxford, she is a 1980 graduate of Oxford Hills High School.

Established in 1981, Martin's Point is a not-for-profit health care provider with facilities in Portland, Brunswick and Windham, Maine, and in Portsmouth, N.H. The patients at Martin's Point - including military retirees and dependents of active military personnel - are served under all major health plans. Martin's Point serves patients in the areas of family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, radiology, cardiology, and mammography, as well as other fields.

In addition, Martin's Point is known for its innovative approach to health care. Unique to Martin's Point is its online communication program called Patient's Personal Points (TM), which allows patients to communicate via a secure server with their doctors to schedule appointments, ask medical questions and obtain prescription renewals.
