Kennebunk-based Atlas Group Unveils Firepipes™ Network Security

Cost-effective technology thwarts mass identity theft and hackers in company networks

KENNEBUNK, Maine - Atlas Group, an international converged communications services company based in Kennebunk, has announced the release of Firepipes™, a corporate security system designed to thwart mass identity theft and hackers in company networks.

The cost-effective new technology allows users access to specific software applications and information while blocking access to all other resources. Firepipes™ connects wireless, remote access and company-based users to these pre-authorized applications and network destinations.

By preventing users from “exploring”, firepiping thwarts many major security threats such as worms, trojans, user impersonation and mass identify theft. Firepipes™ is unique in that it will work with any existing infrastructure and does not require local area network upgrades to meet retail Payment Card Industry (PCI) or health care’s HIPAA information security regulations.

“Firepipes™ inexpensively addresses the issue of securing company networks that are constantly changing,” said Mark Tuttle, President of Kennebunk, Maine-based Atlas Group. “This new technology marks a significant milestone on the road to securing cellular, wireless, home and office users holistically across a company network.”

Firepipes™ manages hundreds of thousands of network security rules, prohibits hacker impersonations, can be deployed in weeks and reduces complex security administration time by more than 90 percent. The system is based on open source software that is free for clients to use. Therefore, the cost to implement Firepipes™ is very low compared to even less sophisticated solutions, Tuttle said.

Firepipes™ is currently deployed on two international corporate networks. Atlas Group can provide Firepipes™ as an outsourced managed service or build it for a client’s staff to operate. The firm also is negotiating with New England-based partners to help deploy Firepipes™ in specific vertical markets.
