LURC Approves Rezoning for New U.S. Border Patrol Station in Dallas Plantation
AUGUSTA, Maine Preti Flaherty has announced it has obtained rezoning and development approval by the Land Use Regulation Commission (LURC) within the Prospective Zoning Plan area for the Rangeley Lakes Region for the development of a U.S. Border Patrol Station in Dallas Plantation, Maine.
The firm represented Rangeley 2008, LLC, a private developer, in obtaining what is the only rezoning ever approved by LURC within the Prospective Zoning Plan area.
We are very pleased with LURCs decision to grant the rezoning and are particularly pleased with how quickly we were able to obtain the necessary approvals six months start to finish, said Michael Lane, an attorney at Preti Flaherty.
Employees of the new border patrol station monitor and respond to threats to national security along approximately 80.7 miles of international border between the U.S. and Canada. The new station will be a secured and gated compound that is staffed 24/7 by up to 50 employees. The LEED certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) station will include 13,200 +/- square feet of office space, 13,400 +/- square feet of garage parking, and space for an emergency helicopter landing/launch pad. Construction will begin immediately.
