Andrea K. Johnstone, one of New Hampshire’s top labor and employment attorneys, has joined Bernstein Shur in Manchester, further bolstering the firm’s reputation and stature in the Granite State.
As a shareholder at Bernstein Shur, Johnstone will continue to focus her practice on advising employers in the administration of personnel policies and strategies for handling workplace-related issues. She will represent the interests of management in all aspects of labor and employment law, including employment agreements, state and federal employment law compliance, union organizing campaigns, labor negotiations and arbitration and employment litigation.

Johnstone has been named New Hampshire’s leading labor and employment law attorney in a survey of the legal profession by Business New Hampshire, and has been a fixture on the most definitive national referral lists of legal excellence.

A resident of Hopkinton, Johnstone was formerly a partner at Gallagher, Callahan & Gartrell, and has been practicing law since 1988.

In her practice, Johnstone also conducts sexual harassment investigations, sexual harassment training, and other management training. She writes and speaks frequently on employment related topics, and is co-author of “Labor and Employment Law in New Hampshire.”

Johnstone is listed in Best Lawyers in America and in Chambers USA, a prestigious directory of America’s leading business attorneys. She chairs the HR Committee for the Business and Industry Association of New Hampshire, and serves on the boards of Vested For Growth, a program of the New Hampshire Community Loan Fund, and the Children's Alliance of New Hampshire. She also is a volunteer mediator for the New Hampshire Commission for Human Rights.

Prior to private practice, Johnstone served as a judicial law clerk in the New Hampshire Superior Court. She received her law degree in 1988 from Hofstra University School of Law in Hempstead, New York, and graduated cum laude in 1985 from Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts.

She is a member of the NH Bar Association, the Labor and Employment Law Section of the American Bar Association, the National Human Resources Association, and the Society of Human Resources Management. Johnstone also is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts.
