Maine State Ballet to Perform Don Quixote on August 15
The Maine State Ballet will present Don Quixote on Friday, August 15 at Merrill Auditorium in its annual Adopt-A-Dancer performance.
Don Quixote is an entertaining full-length ballet full of spirited and colorful dancing. The tale is a comic love story of a poor barber who wins the hand of the village beauty, helped along by Don Quixote himself and his side-kick, Sancho Panza.
Following the show, there will be a reception for contributors to the Adopt-A-Dancer scholarship program. Funds raised by the Adopt-A-Dancer program are used to bring in nationally and internationally acclaimed instructors and to underwrite the cost of company class, an essential component of a dancer's training.
The single performance of Don Quixote will be on Friday, August 15 at 7:00 p.m. All tickets are priced at $25 and go on sale Monday, July 21. Tickets are available by calling PortTix at 842-0800, or online at www.porttix.com or www.mainestateballet.org.
Maine State Ballet, established in 1986, has become the leading professional dance company in the State of Maine. Working together, Maine State Ballet and the Maine State School for the Performing Arts encourage students to become active, intelligent young artists who will emerge as artistic leaders in their communities.
