Martin's Point Health Care Expands Medical Staff in Portland

Dr. Cathra Chappelle and Dr. Heidi Brooks Join Martin's Point

Cathra M. Chappelle, M.D., and Heidi E. Brooks, M.D., have joined the Portland clinic of Martin's Point Health Care, signaling a further expansion of the medical practice for Maine's largest not-for-profit primary care practice.

Dr. Chappelle will specialize in family practice - with a special interest in obstetrics, adolescent health and preventative medicine - as a family practice physician at Martin's Point.

"Family medicine is a special career which combines my interest in science with the art of human relations," said Dr. Chappelle. "I view my role as a health care consultant who provides information for patients to make informed decisions about their health."

A native of Old Town and a resident of South Portland, Dr. Chappelle is certified by the American Board of Family Practice. She received an undergraduate degree in zoology at the University of Maine in Orono, and earned her medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington. She completed her family practice residency and internship at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Heidi E. Brooks, M.D., is an internal medicine physician who will practice at the Martin's Point clinic in Portland. She will practice outpatient care, with a special interest in preventative medicine, women's health, and comprehensive medicine.

"My primary goals in medicine include preventing disease and promoting the overall well-being of my patients," said Dr. Brooks. "I feel that the presence of a strong patient-doctor relationship is paramount and is based on mutual trust, respect and cooperation."

A resident of Portland, Dr. Brooks is certified by the American Academy of Internal Medicine and is a member of the Massachusetts Medical Society. She received a bachelor's degree in both biology and psychology from Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Mass., and received her medical degree from the New York Medical College in Valhalla, N.Y. Brooks completed her internal medicine residency at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Boston. A native of Auburn, Maine, she is a 1988 graduate of Edward Little High School.
