Martin's Point Health Care Food Allergy Support Group Sponsors Halloween Event at the Children’s Museum October 28
The Martin’s Point Health Care Food Allergy/Anaphylaxis Support Group will sponsor a Halloween event from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28 at the Children’s Museum of Maine for children with food allergies and their families.
The event, entitled, “An Autumn Afternoon,” will give families a chance to meet other children with food allergies. The public is invited to become involved with the Food Allergy Support Group at Martin’s Point, the only support group of its kind in the state of Maine. “An Autumn Afternoon” will feature activities that are not centered around food.
“It’s important to give kids who are allergic to foods an alternative at Halloween and other holidays,” said Leigh Kirchner, Senior Health Educator at Martin’s Point in Portland, and coordinator of the event. Parents may bring snacks safe for their own children. Children and adults are invited to wear a costume.
The Children’s Museum of Maine is located in Portland at 142 Free Street, near Congress Square.
To register for the event, which is open to the public, call the Martin’s Point Health Care Health Education Center at 828-2497 or 1-800-260-6681. Advance registration is required. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children, which includes entrance to the Museum.
(Media interested in covering the event can call Lanelle Roussel or Kristy Dillingham at Martin’s Point, 774-5801.)
