WHAT: START LINE painting on Route 77 for this year'sPeoples Beach to Beacon 10K Road Race
WHEN: THIS Sunday, July 21, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
WHERE: On Route 77 near the entrance to Crescent Beach State Park.

BACKGROUND:
The painting of the start line signifies a major step in the preparation for the 5th annual Peoples Beach to Beacon 10K Road Race to be held this year on Saturday, August 3.
An expanded field of 5,000, including Maine and New England's top road racers and the top elite runners from around the world, will compete for $50,000 in prize money. The scenic course, winding through Cape Elizabeth, ends at the Portland Head lighthouse at Fort Williams Park. This year, two NYC firefighters will run the race and numerous 5th year anniversary activities are also planned.
The Peoples Beach to Beacon 10K was founded by Peoples Heritage Bank and Olympic gold medalist Joan Benoit Samuelson. The youth organization chosen as this year's race beneficiary ö receiving at least $30,000 in race proceeds ö is Opportunity Farm, a home for children and teens in New Gloucester, Maine.
