Media Credentials Form/Info for Peoples Beach to Beacon

Professional Media Only

The Peoples Beach to Beacon 10K Road Race will be held this year on Saturday, August 2. If you are planning to cover the race, please return either via fax (preferred) or mail a media credentials form that was sent to you. You also can follow the link below to access a media credentials form online. You will need media credentials for access to the finish line area, media tent and parking, or to reserve a space on the media truck. Please copy the form if others need credentials at your organization as we need one form per person.

Media Truck

As in previous years, the race will provide a flatbed media truck for photographers and videographers only to cover the race. Only one spot is reserved for each media outlet responding in time, and additional places will be assigned as available. During the race, the truck will remain just ahead of the runners until mile five, when it will head to the finish. Those with a reserved space on the truck must arrive at the Cape Elizabeth High School parking lot by 6:30 a.m. The truck departs the parking lot at 7 a.m. sharp to take you to the start line.

As in the past, the truck will be limited to cameras only. Upon arriving at the finish, camera people will have assigned positions in the finish area.

Parking

No parking passes are needed for parking at the high school for riding the media truck. After the race, a shuttle bus will be available to take you back to the high school. Parking at Fort Williams, however, will require a parking pass. Requests for parking passes for the Fort can be made via the credential form. Also, please note that the race route roads will close at 7:15 and 7:30 a.m. sharp, depending on the road, so if you are planning to go directly to the finish at the Fort, you should do so by 7 a.m. to get in before the roads close. Because parking spaces at the Fort are limited, if there are more than one of you coming from the same media outlet, carpooling is suggested.

Press Conferences/Other Coverage

A pre-event press conference will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 1, at the Inn by the Sea in Cape Elizabeth, located on Route 77. As in past years, the event will be held on the side lawn under the tent.

Following opening remarks by race organizers, Peoples Heritage Bank officials and race founder Joan Benoit Samuelson*, each elite runner will be introduced individually. Media will also have the opportunity to conduct one-on-one interviews with the athletes and race officials.

On race day, an interview area will be set up near the media tent immediately following the race to allow media access to the top elite, master's, and Maine finishers as well as the top two wheelchair finishers. At 9:30 a.m., the kidÕs race begins, and at 10:30 a.m. an awards ceremony will take place at a new location on the lower field.

*If you would like to interview Joan Benoit Samuelson in July, we are arranging one-on-one media interviews the morning of July 22 at the Fort. Call or e-mail (beryl@wolfenews.com) Beryl Wolfe at Wolfe PR if you would like to arrange an interview on that day.

Race Day Media Access

During the race, members of the media will have credentials that allow them access to designated points at the finish, media truck and media tent. At the Finish Line, photographers will have access to a designated area that will provide them with an unobstructed view of the finish.
