Memo for Media Covering the Race

TO: Media covering the Peoples Beach to Beacon Race over the next two weeks

FROM: Wolfe PR

RE: Important Info

Hi Media - please note that the official name of the race is the Peoples Beach to Beacon 10K. Thanks. Here are some other FYIs.

· The Start Line painting is Sunday, July 25, at 9 a.m. on Route 77, near the entrance to Crescent Beach State Park.

· The pre-race press conference with the elite athletes will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 30 at Inn by the Sea on Route 77 in Cape Elizabeth under the tent on the side lawn.

· The photographer’s meeting will be at noon Friday, July 30 at Fort Williams. All photographers need to be at the meeting to get an assigned place on the risers on race day.

· Race day parking if riding on the Media truck is at Cape Elizabeth High School - no parking passes are needed. Please arrive by 6:30 a.m. to get situated on the truck, as it will be leaving the parking lot at 7 a.m. sharp to take you to the Start Line. During the race, it will turn off at mile 4 to take you to the Finish Line, hopefully before the first runner crosses.

· Fort Williams parking is reserved and passes for media going directly to the Finish Line at Fort Williams have been provided, if requested. Please note you should arrive at the Fort well before the roads close, as even with a pass, you will not get in after that time. (Fowler Road will close at 7:15 a.m., most other roads at 7:30) Most roads will re-open at 10 a.m.

· Media availability with winners after the race will be held in and around the press tent at the finish around 9 a.m. As last year, small tables will be set up for each winner. Wolfe PR staff also will be available to help you locate other runners of interest.

· Only media with cameras with assigned spots are allowed inside chute on the media risers to ensure the safety of the runners.

· The awards ceremony will be at 10:30 a.m. on the lower field, known as "Parade Ground" field, which will also provide an opportunity to photograph winners with their laurel wreaths, receiving their prize money, and to interview Peoples Heritage Bank and race officials and the winner of the kid's race.

· A shuttle bus (not the media truck) is available to take you back to Cape Elizabeth High School from the finish at Fort Williams if you are parked there.

· Advance race information and Story Ideas are posted on this site under the Peoples Beach to Beacon race logo. After the race, we will also post a news release on this site.

· If you have any questions, please contact Beryl Wolfe, beryl@wolfenews.com, or Jason Wolfe, jason@wolfenews.com at Wolfe Public Relations, (207) 883-6083. Thank you.
