Midcoast Children Among Winners in Dragon’s Annual Safety Poster Contest
Three Midcoast children were among the winners in Dragon Cement and Concrete’s annual safety poster contest, aimed at promoting safety in the workplace as well as at home.
The annual contest is open to children of the 220 Dragon employees throughout Maine. This year’s contest attracted 50 entries, marking record participation in the event.
Area winners included: Best Artwork for Ages 5-8: Five-year-old Sammie Stearns of Rockland, son of Rachel Stearns, who works in the Thomaston plant. Best Artwork for Ages 12-16: 16-year-old Sasha Barbour of Rockland, daughter of Donald Barbour, who also works in ThomastonBest Slogan: Six-year-old Claire Lupien of Waldoboro, daughter of Tom Lupien, who works in Thomaston. Her slogan is: Be Safe Because Your Family is Waiting for You
Other winners included Mark, 8, and Matt Small, 11, two brothers from Yarmouth, and Nicole St. Pierre, 15, of Frenchville. Each participant received an L.L. Bean fleece vest. The six winners also received a $75 gift certificate. Winning posters can be viewed on the company’s web site at www.dragonproducts.com.
