Mile Marker Investments Begins Restoration of Classic Miami Modernist Home at 5815 North Bay Road in Miami Beach

The 1950 MiMo home will be restored to focus on its unique architectural style while providing all of today’s luxurious amenities

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (June 26, 2014) – Mile Marker Investments, a real estate investment group led by veteran real estate developer Howard Goldenfarb, has begun work to restore the 1950s era MiMo (Miami Modernist) home at 5815 North Bay Road in Miami Beach.

Situated at the upper end of one of Miami Beach’s most prestigious streets, the single-story home is being re-designed by Robert Gallagher of Gallagher AP. When completed this fall, the property will have +/-3,000 square feet of living space with four bedrooms and 4.5 baths. The home, which sits on an approximate 9,000-square-foot lot, will feature a full size “smart pool” by Essig Pools when complete.

The investment group purchased the home for $1.1 million in December. It will go on the market in the fall with a price and brokerage firm yet to be determined.

Built in 1950, the single-owner home is being redesigned to showcase its sleek look and 1950s lines so characteristic of the MiMo style of the era. The colors will be a mixture of white, grey and natural wood. A fitting landscape and hardscape design will perfectly complement the design of the home while also maximizing functionality.

“We are very excited to restore this stunning North Bay Road home,” Howard Goldenfarb said. “Our goal is to bring back its MiMo style while providing the end buyer a state-of-the-art residence with first-class amenities. We have a long history of bringing properties back to life and we feel this home is a one-of-a-kind jewel. We are happy to revive it.”

The unique MiMo architecture style from the 1950s and 1960s added glamour, fun and material excess to the otherwise stark, minimalist post-World War II movements taking place in other parts of the world. Examples of MiMo architectural features to be found at 5815 North Bay Road include high ceilings, transom windows, curved walls and an open and spacious floor plan.

Modern amenities featured in the restored home will include: an Italian kitchen designed by Miami-based Intirium that will include Miele and Sub Zero appliances, California Closets, polished limestone floors, a lighted portico for two vehicles, smart pool and more.

Mile Marker Investments is an affiliate of Maine-based The RAM Companies. The group is currently focusing on the development of luxury residential property.
