News From Cocinar Mexicano in Tepoztlan

We’re thrilled to announce that Cocinar Mexicano is now linked to two of Mexico City’s top-tier restaurants and that our upcoming workshops will feature tasting meals prepared especially for us by award-winning chefs Martha Ortiz, of Aguila y Sol, and Patricia Quintana, of Izote.

Participants will still spend a week in Tepoztlán, our village in the foothills of the volcano Popocatépetl, with five days of hands-on gourmet classes that will take them through the full range of classic Mexican cuisine, with special sessions on chiles, antojitos, tamales, sauces and, of course, our famous Margaritas 101.

All our workshops are built around a local fiesta, and we routinely visit local homes, where participants observe the preparations for mole and other traditional dishes before being invited back as guests and plunging into the various processions, fireworks and celebrations for which the village is renowned.

Our upcoming workshops include a spectacular immersion in Mexico’s Day of the Dead, from October 29-November 5th; our winter week that includes the Fiesta of San Sebastián, from January 15-22nd; and the week of March 12-19th, when the advent of spring is marked by a pilgrimage to the pyramid that overlooks the village from above the sacred mountain of the Tepozteco.

No two workshops are exactly alike, but all are memorable and promise our unique blend of culinary and cultural exploration. Please have a look at our expanded website and let us know if you have any questions: www.cocinarmexicano.com

For those of you in the press, we now offer a press package to food and travel writers with commissions, but spaces are tight and we need to hear from you well in advance: director@cocinarmexicano.com

Best wishes from all of us—Magda, Marta, Tere and Tere
