Peoples to Expand in Brunswick

Bank Breaks Ground on New Branch

Peoples Heritage Bank began construction of a new branch in the Cook's Corner area of Brunswick last week that will span 4,500 square feet and is scheduled to open in October.

The new, larger branch will be located in the Wal-Mart Plaza and offer a full line of banking services, including small business lending, consumer loans, mortgages, commercial loans, private banking, investments and insurance.

In addition, the branch will feature a conference room that will be available for use by the public. The facility will have five teller windows, a waiting area and four private offices for loan officers and banking personnel. It also will have a drive up ATM and two drive-thru lanes.

The building is being constructed by R.E. Management, Inc. and was designed by Financial Concepts, Inc.

"This expansion in Brunswick signifies our commitment to our customers in the mid-coast region as well as our confidence in the growing economy of the area," said Mike McNamara, president and CEO of Peoples Heritage Bank. The branch manager will be Jason Norton, a vice president at the bank.

The supermarket branch at the Cook's Corner Shaw's will be consolidated into the new branch to offer area customers more services, bank officials said.

Peoples' other branch in Brunswick, located at the downtown Shop 'n Save, will remain open to provide a downtown location as well as evening and Sunday hours.
