Peoples Heritage Bank Hosts "Job Shadow Day" In Lewiston

As a way to help young people get an up close view of the workplace environment, Peoples Heritage Bank is hosting "Groundhog Job Shadow Day" on Friday at the bank's loan operations center at the Bates Mill in Lewiston.

About 30 students from Lewiston High School are expected to participate in the half-day event in which they will be assigned bank employees to job shadow.

The annual Job Shadow Day is organized by Junior Achievement and sponsored by Peoples Heritage Bank as part of the bank's "Peoples Promise" program created to help young people in the state. This marks the third year that Peoples Heritage Bank has sponsored Job Shadow Day.

"It's a great program that really helps kids understand what the workplace environment is like," said Mike McNamara, president and CEO of Peoples Heritage Bank. "We're glad to be a part of it."

Friday's event at the Bates Mill will take place between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and feature an address to students by Olympic Gold Medal marathoner and bank spokesperson Joan Benoit Samuelson at 11:45 a.m.

Peoples Heritage Bank is a Maine-based bank with 69 branches throughout the state, five of which operate as Oxford Bank & Trust, a division of the bank.

(Media are invited to attend the event. Please contact Beryl Wolfe at 775-5115 or Julie McQuillan at 828-7558 for more information and to arrange. Directions to the Bates Mill are below. Thanks!)
