Peoples promotes Barker, MacDonald, Boucher, Lauzon, Melville and Fortin

Peoples Heritage Bank has announced the promotions of Marge A. Barker, Sandy MacDonald, Bertrand G. Boucher, Cathy A. Lauzon, Catherine E. Melville and Julie R. Fortin.

Peoples Heritage is Maine's leading bank with 69 branches throughout the state, five of which operate as Oxford Bank & Trust, a division of the bank.

The following are capsules about each of the six promoted employees:

MARGE BARKER NAMED VICE PRESIDENT AT PEOPLES HERITAGE BANK

Marge A. Barker has been promoted to vice president in Public Finance at Peoples Heritage Bank in Portland. She will continue to service municipalities and school districts with their banking and lending needs.

Barker, who has more than 30 years in banking, has worked in the areas of commercial lending, sales, asset management, mortgage origination and, for the past six years, public finance. She joined Peoples Heritage Bank in 1988.

A resident of Portland, Barker is a Special Education volunteer with Portland Partnership and also serves as the assistant treasurer for the Equity Institute of Maine.

SANDY MACDONALD NAMED ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT AT PEOPLES HERITAGE BANK

Sandy MacDonald has been named assistant vice president in the Branch Operations Department at Peoples Heritage Bank in Portland. She will continue to be responsible for the overall management of operational policies and procedures for all Maine branches.

MacDonald joined Peoples Heritage Bank in 1997, and has 21 years in banking. She formerly served as a manager of the DDA and Commercial DDA departments at Peoples Heritage Bank.

A resident of Gray, MacDonald is a 1981 graduate of St. Joseph's College in Standish.

BERTRAND BOUCHER NAMED VICE PRESIDENT AT PEOPLES HERITAGE BANK

Bertrand G. Boucher has been promoted to vice president at Peoples Heritage Bank. He will continue to manage daily operations in the Fort Kent and Eagle Lake branches in his role as business development and sales manager.

Boucher joined Peoples Heritage Bank in 1999 and has 22 years in banking, serving in various positions, including branch manager and commercial loan officer, at four other banking institutions.

A resident of Fort Kent Mills, Boucher is a volunteer coach in the Fort Kent Recreation Department and is the past president of the Fort Kent Golf Club and a former director of the Rotary Club. He is a 1979 graduate of Husson College in Bangor and a 1975 graduate of Fort Kent Community High School.

CATHY LAUZON PROMOTED TO ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT AT PEOPLES HERITAGE BANK

Cathy A. Lauzon has been promoted to assistant vice president in the Commercial Real Estate Department at Peoples Heritage Bank in Portland. As a commercial loan portfolio officer, she will continue to be responsible for analyzing, originating and monitoring a variety of commercial loans.

Lauzon joined Peoples in 1994 and has nine years in banking. She has previously served as an officer, credit analyst and small banking credit manager.

A resident of Biddeford, Lauzon has served as an account executive for the United Way annual campaigns the past three years and volunteers with the West Biddeford Little League. She is a 1985 graduate of Rivier College in Nashua, N.H. A native of Lowell, Mass., Lauzon is a 1981 graduate of St. Joseph's Regional High School.

CATHERINE MELVILLE NAMED ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT AT PEOPLES HERITAGE BANK

Catherine E. Melville has been named assistant vice president in the Consumer Credit Collections Department at Peoples Heritage Bank in Portland. She will continue to be responsible for the management of advanced collections in her role as collections manager.

Melville joined Peoples Heritage Bank in 1994. She has previously served as collections officer, 30/60 day collector, senior loan collector and collections supervisor.

A resident of South Portland, Melville serves as a volunteer for the March of Dimes, the Cancer Community Center and the Peoples Beach to Beacon 10K Road Race. Originally from Bath, Melville is a 1989 graduate of Morse High School and a 1994 graduate of the University of Southern Maine.

JULIE FORTIN PROMOTED TO OFFICER AT PEOPLES HERITAGE BANK

Julie R. Fortin has been promoted to officer in the Education and Training Department at Peoples Heritage Bank in South Portland. She will continue to be responsible for system training, customer service training and training program development in her role as training specialist.

Fortin joined Peoples Heritage Bank in 1999 and is a member of the Maine Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development.

A resident of Gray, Fortin is a 1991 graduate of Assumption College in Worcester, Mass. A Lewiston native, she is a 1987 graduate St. Dominic Regional High School in Lewiston.
