Radiant Images to Feature Its Exclusive Pocket-sized Cinema-quality POV Camera – the SI-2K Nano – at Cine Gear Expo on June 1-2

Digital cinema innovator also showcasing modified GoPro, custom rigs and the latest cameras and gear in Booth S329 at entertainment industry’s premier expo

LOS ANGELES (May 30, 2012) – Radiant Images, a leading L.A.-based rental house and digital cinema innovator, will feature the SI-2K Nano, its exclusive pocket-sized cinema-quality POV camera, in Exhibition Booth S329 at the Cine Gear Expo in Hollywood on June 1-2.

Radiant Images (www.radiantimages.com) also will share expertise, an array of custom rigs and gear, and the latest 2D and 3D cameras and setups at Cine Gear 2012 at The Studios at Paramount in Hollywood. The Radiant Images booth, located in Stage 23, will be staffed from 3-9 p.m. on Fri., June 1 and from 10-5 p.m. on Sat., June 2.

The Cine Gear Expo, an annual four-day conference, is the premier film, video and digital media expo for the entertainment industry, attracting the most dedicated specialists from every major department of the entertainment production and post production world.

Radiant Images has built a reputation among DPs and camera operators as a go-to shop for the latest innovations and problem solving. Co-founder Michael Mansouri and his team are known to stretch the boundaries of digital cinema with creative solutions – specializing in designing and building custom 2D and 3D rigs as well as modifying cameras and gear.

The new SI-2K Nano is case in point.

The SI-2K Nano was conceived for David Ayer's End of Watch, the much-anticipated cop drama starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña scheduled for release in September. The filmmakers needed a camera small and versatile enough to be strapped to the chests of the two actors for POV shots that didn’t compromise freedom of movement. The cameras also are integrated into the storyline.

Working closely with Ayer and DP Roman Vasyanov, Sinclair Labs Inc. engineered the camera based on the conceptual design of Babak Mansouri, the brother of Michael Mansouri who works closely with Radiant.

Available exclusively at Radiant Images, the SI-2K Nano is one-third the size of the original SI-2K Mini Sensor with the versatility (IMS) to mount to just about anyone or anything. Encased in a sturdy outer shell, it shoots 2K uncompressed RAW 4:4:4 cinema quality using SI sensor components with 10 stops of dynamic range.

The palm-sized SI-2K Nano, ideal for multi-camera setups for stereoscopy and special effect cinematography, has been used in a variety of other feature film, TV and commercial productions in recent months, including Step Up: Revolution in 3D, set for July release. The camera was worn in side-by-side 3D format on Radiant-built body mounts for dynamic dance sequence shots.

Radiant Images techs will be on hand in Booth S329 (Stage 23) to demonstrate and discuss the SI-2K Nano and a wide range of other custom equipment – including its modified GoPro Hero with an interchangeable lens mount and heavy-duty aluminum case.

Also available exclusively at Radiant Images, the modified GoPro Hero can accept different focal length lenses, making it more versatile for cinematic uses by enabling shots that were never possible before with the stock wide-angle lens.

Radiant created a clean, heavy-duty anodized aluminum front casing that fits the shape of the Go Pro body, leaving the rear of the camera exposed. The housing includes a number of mounting points – allowing the camera to be attached in a wide variety of ways. Also, the casing surrounds and protects the HDMI cable port and the cable is secured with a pair of set screws that keep it in place throughout a shoot.
