An American Red Cross babysitting course will be offered at Martin's Point Health Care in Portland on July 8 and 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The two-part course is designed for youths ages 11 and up and will be held at the Martin's Point Health Education Center at 331 Veranda Street.

Topics to be covered include safety essentials, sitter responsibilities, first aid techniques and dealing with emergencies.

In order to receive a Red Cross babysitter's certificate, participants must attend both days of the course. Registration is required and the cost of the two-day course is $40. For additional information or to register, call the Health Ed Center at 828-2497 or 1-800-260-6681.
