SCARBOROUGH, Maine - Town officials, principals of KGI Properties and others involved in the Scarborough Gallery project gathered Friday at the site of the future retail development, which will be anchored by a Lowes and a Wal-Mart Supercenter.
The developers hosted the event as part of a pre-construction kickoff. The more than 60 attendees viewed renderings, met and spoke to the project development team, and were served lunch.
Speakers included (from left in photo) Scarborough Town Manager Ron Owens, Scarborough Town Council Vice-Chair Sylvia Most, and KGI Properties Principal Ben Devine.
The $60 million development is expected to create up to 700 jobs and feature nearly 500,000 square feet of retail space and restaurant pads. The project will be owned and developed by KGI Properties, a partnership between Great Island Development of Boston and the Koffler Group of Providence, Rhode Island.
KGI Properties has developed more than $125 million of retail projects in New England with national tenants such as Target, Kohls, and Home Depot as anchor tenants in the last 36 months.
