Scarborough-based Ram Purchases 103,000-square-foot Class A Research & Development Facility in Wilmington, Mass.
Part of strategy to acquire and improve large properties in New England and Florida
Scarborough, Maine-based Ram Management Company has announced the purchase of a 103,000-square-foot R & D property in Wilmington, Massachusetts. The purchase of the property at 100 Research Drive in Wilmington, located on approximately 15 acres, fits Ramâs strategy of acquiring, improving and repositioning large properties in New England, said Brian A. Gagne, Executive Vice President of Acquisitions & Development
The building is currently 65 percent leased to Nelson Bach USA, Polymer Technology, and Aerial Acoustics. Ram plans to make several upgrades to the property and has hired Jim Thomson and Doug Jacoby in Newmark Knight-Frankâs Boston office to handle the leasing of the remaining 36,000 square feet of Class A laboratory space. Newmark Knight-Frank also represented the buyer, a Ram affiliate, in this transaction.
âWe are very excited about this purchase,â Gagne said. âOver the years we have acquired and made substantial physical and managerial improvements to several large properties in New England and Florida, with strong results from our leasing efforts. We believe the same formula can apply to 100 Research Drive. Our goal is to acquire properties to reposition that add value to our portfolio and the communities we work in. We look forward to pursuing more properties like 100 Research.â
Well known throughout Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts, as well as Europe, for its much acclaimed retail, residential, industrial and office developments, Ram was the original developer of factory outlets in Kittery and Freeport, Maine as well as in England, Belgium and Israel. The firmâs past work also includes the revitalization of Portland, Maineâs Old Port area. Ram maintains offices in Scarborough, Maine; Wakefield, Massachusetts; and Miami.
âWith a very strong equity base and reputation, Ram is positioned to continue to purchase properties like 100 Research Drive and others throughout New England and Florida,â Gagne said.
