Scott E. Schul, an attorney with Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson, has been named a shareholder of the firm. Schul joined the firm in 1993 and practices primarily in the areas of general taxation, executive compensation, employee benefits and general business law.

Schul earned an L.L.M. in taxation from Boston University in May 1997 and is a 1991 graduate of the West Virginia University College of Law in Morgantown, W. Va., and a 1988 graduate of Clarion University of Pennsylvania in Clarion, Pa.. He is a member of the American, Maine State and Cumberland County Bar Associations.

A resident of Portland, Schul is executive secretary of the Augusta Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and is founder of the LDS Commerce Club, an association of LDS businesspeople in southern Maine. He also is active in the Maine State Historical Society and the Maine Board of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation..
