TD Banknorth Contributes $150,000 to Central Maine Medical Center for New Critical Care Unit

Grant provided by TD Banknorth Charitable Foundation

TD Banknorth has donated $150,000 to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston to help fund a state-of-the-art Critical Care Unit that will better serve patients throughout central and western Maine.

The grant, provided by TD Banknorth’s charitable giving arm, the TD Banknorth Charitable Foundation, will be provided over two years as CMMC’s capital campaign to replace its 30-year-old Intensive Care Unit gets underway.

The new Critical Care Unit is needed to help the medical facility keep pace with the increased volume of patients and accommodate the latest medical technology.

“Central Maine Medical Center provides exceptional healthcare services to Maine residents throughout the region,” said Norm Albert, Executive Vice President of Commercial Lending at TD Banknorth. “This new Critical Care Unit will really enhance those services and make a difference in the lives of countless Mainers. We are pleased to be able to assist CMMC with this effort.”

The new Critical Care Unit, which will re-locate to the same building as the Central Maine Heart & Vascular Institute, will have 19 large private rooms with improved patient confidentiality and improved infrastructure systems.

“TD Banknorth’s generous support of our effort to build this state-of-the-art Critical Care Unit provides an important kick start to our capital campaign,” said Chuck Gill, Vice President for Public Affairs at Central Maine Medical Center. “We are deeply grateful.”
