Wolfe PR Enhances Travel PR Division

Offers discount to clients affected by downturn in travel industry

Wolfe Public Relations, a Tucson-based public relations firm with clients in Mexico, Chile, Costa Rica and throughout the U.S., has enhanced its travel PR department to help Mexico, Caribbean and Latin America destinations receive positive U.S. news coverage.

Owner Beryl Valverde Wolfe said she is offering a significant discount to tourism-related clients in countries and regions smaller PR budgets who have been impacted by negative news stories or a slowdown in tourism due to the economy. The firm is also expanding its Mexico PR services to assist Mexico tourism clients get their story to the U.S. media.

Wolfe PR develops, writes and distributes AP-style news releases and story pitches to an in-house list of more than 2,500 travel media in the United States.

U.S., European Caribbean and Latin American tourism clients interested in reaching the U.S. travel media can e-mail Wolfe at beryl@wolfepr.com, or call her at (520) 207-9581 in the U.S. More info at www.wolfepr.com, including a page in Spanish.

Wolfe says using a low cost PR firm like hers is an economical and credible way to reach U.S. media.

"We can develop newsworthy, journalistic news releases about the safety or beauty of a region, sending that news directly to reporters and editors - so doing PR is clearly one of the more economical ways to obtain U.S. media coverage on a limited budget," she said.

Wolfe, who speaks Spanish, currently serves travel clients in Mexico, Chile, Costa Rica and the U.S.

Established in 1993 and made up of former journalists, Wolfe PR's travel media list includes reporters, editors, news shows, freelancers, wire services, magazines, online pubs, social media, columnists and national syndicates. News releases are written in AP style and sent via e-mail.

"Whether it's an annual festival, eco-tour or just getting the word out about a destination hit by a negative news event, there's potential news value there. We can help them reach the U.S. press and public," said Wolfe, a former reporter. "Too often news from Latin America is negative, so we want to provide a vehicle for distributing the other side of the story to the media. And because we take a journalistic, factual approach to public relations, there's a greater chance for coverage and placement."

The typical travel PR campaign provided by Wolfe PR includes writing and distributing a series of news releases, making feature pitches to travel media and providing PR edits to local translations.

Wolfe started Wolfe Public Relations in Portland, Maine in 1993. Her husband, Jason Wolfe, is also a former reporter and is a principal at the firm. The firm moved to Tucson in 2005. Wolfe is a 1976 graduate of the University of Arizona in Tucson and lived and worked as a reporter in Venezuela and Spain in the 1980s. She also lived in Guadalajara and has traveled extensively in Mexico as well as to Argentina, Uruguay, Peru, Spain and various countries in the Caribbean and Europe.
